Assignment 19A- Idea Napkin No.2


Who:

My name is Kaitlin Prece and I am majoring in General Studies of Business and specializing in Pre-Law. I have grown up around firearms so I know much about how it all works, especially since my father is an ex- cope, which can be very helpful when creating my specific service. But I have also seen the side of starting your own business and maintaining it. And with those skills that I observed from my parents I would incorporate that into what I do when I’m older. I have always been a hard worker and never do anything half way so I do believe these skills will be vital for me in the business world. But if I was to start this service I do see it playing a role in my life since I am very familiar with gun laws and guns themselves and how the process works.

What you are offering customers:

·      I am still offering the same thing to customers. I will be offering customers a feeling of security and safety, both to people who directly use the service and also to those who do not, but are affected by those who do. This service will keep mentally unstable individuals from purchasing a firearm with the help of a psychological test. 
·      This psychological test will be created after much research, so that the service will be fully effective.

Who you are offering it to

·      It is not that this area has changed too much but through my research from my other assignments it is more clear that this service will directly be for those who are at the age requirement that either currently own guns and want to purchase another one or customer’s that are now interested in purchasing one.
·      I know that in order for my service to be implemented I will first have to bring it tot he attention of people within the law making area. So in a way I’m offering it to them too.
·      But with this service implemented it also will indirectly affect bystanders because who has a gun definitely affects ones who may not, as we have clearly seen these past years.
Why do they care?
·      As I stated in my first idea napkin this service will see an overwhelmingly amount of people in favor of this. Ones who like guns, ones who don’t. Ones who want to purchase guns, and ones who don’t. It's offering these people, who have seen so much tragedy, a step in the right direction in preventing these tragedies from occurring because of guns falling into the wrong hands in the past.
·      There is already a fee for doing a background check so this will just be a small additional fee and they will be willing to do this if it means it will turn down many more people from purchasing a gun that shouldn’t have one.
Core competencies
·      My service is something that is in the step in the right direction to meeting the people’s need of safety. With all these tragedies, my service can give people hope that they currently do not have. With this, people will now feel a little more safer and have a better consciousness that there are being extensive measures taken to ensure someone who should not have a gun will not be able to purchase one
Elements fitting together:
·      I do believe these elements fit well together since I’m offering something that is a large need in everyone’s life. This service does however require an effective test that must be created through lots of research. Which means I must have very good networking in order to connect with people that are experts in this field that can help in creating an effective test. I also will need to present an effective test to those who have the power of actually implementing this service into the firearm obtaining process.
Feedback memo:
·      The first main point that I took away from the feedback given to me is that although I do need connections in order to find certain people to research this with me to create the effective test, one person pointed out that my skills that I have would not make finding these connections difficult. Which means that the part of my business idea that I thought was weak in my first idea napkin really isn’t as weak if I apply myself.
·      The second thing I took away is that I have a service that is offering security to everyone. Which means this service is different from many, since it doesn’t just have an effect on a select few, but affects everyone.

    I found your second idea napkin really informational as you further described in detail why your potential customers would care for your product. I also agree with you that by applying ourselves more to our product or service, we can strengthen our ideas so much more. Overall, great job in developing your idea further for the benefit of safety of firearms.

    You did a good job on your second idea napkin and I think you have a great understanding of the service you want to provide and the various aspects that it entails. You know the initial steps to get your product out there and the power the government has in controlling this market. Keep up the good work with your idea!

    You developed your idea napkin very well, you also managed to explain each part of the assignment in detail and in an easy and organized way to understand. I agree with you that your product is a step to improve the safety of people regarding this problem, I see that you are very passionate about your idea since you know exactly how to implement it. good job!
